Guest jleecong Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I've noticed dust in less than two weeks. Warning to those hoping the dust problem was fixed with the 5600. It appears there are two layers to the screen as some dust is in the glass, the other is under the glass. I contacted Audiovox but due to them not being able to guarantee my phone back (they may just send a replacment) and me not willing to pay another $40.00 to have a new phone unlocked I'm waiting to hear from imei-check on what they will do for me in the event I send my phone in for service and get a different one back.SMT5600_Dust.jpg
Guest shortcut3d Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I just cleaned my screen and looked. I have dust too!
Guest chenyichung Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 yea, i have dust too, but can't see it unless the screen is off and i'm out under the bright sun. that's a very nice picture, what kinda camera do you have? -Yi Chen
Guest jleecong Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 It just gets worse and worse. It was just at the edges now there are pieces almost everywhere. I will be calling Audiovox tomorrow. Great phone just need to get this little problem fixed. The picture was taken with a Nikon CoolPix 2100. Then compressed using Ulead SmartSaver Pro.
Guest mgama Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I've had my phone for 20 days, and I have dust in the upper right corner, near the speaker & camera button. I bought my phone from Amazon, and will likely either need to contact Audiovox or HTC regarding a fix. I thought that I read somewhere that imei-check will unlock an additional phone (free, or close to it) if you need to send your original phone in and get a different one in return. And don't forget to remove your mini-SD card before sending it in!
Guest jleecong Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 imei-check will issue you a new unlock if you miss enter a number. If more than 1 or 2 digits are off they consider it a different phone. They said if I can prove that my phone was replaced that they may issue another unlock code free of charge, but it's far from a guarantee. Either way I have to send my phone in as it is driving me crazy as the dust is now visible whenever I look at the screen (on/off). I'm thinking that I may just hold Audiovox responsible for getting me a unlocked phone back. When I receive whatever back from Audiovox it better be unlocked or I will call right back and just complain that they broke my phone and it's not working.
Guest KingDaddy Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 You think that's bad? I got a Sony Grand Wega 50" HDTV a couple weeks ago and there's a bug crawling around inside!
