Guest jcreedy Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I have had an SPV E100 for 1 day and the manual I have is terrible. My problems with it are as follows: i) I know where to save sounds once I make them but it seems like my wav files are always too big (over 25mb) despite being about 20 seconds long. Where am I going wrong? ii) I have photos that I want to have as home screens but they are always too big and I end up getting just one part of my image as the home screen. Should they be of a certain size? iii) On text messages, I want to know how many letters I am using up so that I don't run into two messages. Can somebody tell me why I can only get this display when I press '0' on the send to or cc line? I want this to be permanantly. Sorry if I should have posted elsewhere but I'm a newbie. James x
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Hi. Welcome to MoDaCo. 1. Check you wav file properties. You may re-encode your wav file to wma format (ei using db poweramp) to save Storage Card space. 2. Yes. About 176 x 200. Follow this link for the homescreen tutorial: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=118412 3. What ROM are you using? Mine is Orange 1.6 and I have this 'SMS Counter' activated when composing a message (after inserting a contact at the To field). I believe this ROM has it by default.
Guest jcreedy Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Sorry to be thick, but what do you mean by what ROM? Thanks for the home screen advice, they work fine now!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Go to SettingsAbout and post what it says  This info will show your ROM version.
Guest jcreedy Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Thanks guys, this is helping. ROM update versions: Operator 1.5.0.29 Manufacturer 1.5.0.29 How can I update it? Cheers.

Guest jcreedy Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 The links posted by one member seem to have vanished. Can somebody send me a link to the Orange 1.6 ROM update please? James
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Here you go: http://www.smartphonefrance.info/rom.asp
Guest jcreedy Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I've now got ROM 1.6 but I still can't see any way to keep track of how many letters I use in a atext message. Any ideas? Thanks.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Try inserting a contact's number at the 'To:' field by tapping Action button then selecting the recepient from your phone's contacts list. Leaving the message field blank while composing your message wont activate the counter.
