SMT5600/T-Mobile: 1 ring before missed call? Annoying!

I have an unlocked Audiovox SMT5600 on T-Mobile in the USA, and I have a seriously annoying problem with it - it will usually only ring for a second or two on my end before it sends the caller to voicemail. I have tried this (30 seconds), but it didn't seem to help with this issue. I've been with T-Mobile for a while now with a Pocket PC Phone Edition, but I didn't have this problem until I got the SMT5600.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm about to throw this phone at the wall!

BTW, I believe this only happens when the keypad is locked. Any ideas?

The number to extend ringtimes is not the same for each carrier... For T-Mobile in the USA read all of my post near the bottom of here:
