Guest FAZZA Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Will the 1gb cards work in the Orange C500? I'm sure I remember reading that it only takes 512mb as part of the phone specs (or did they only say that as that was the max size out at the time?)?? Sorry for the nooby question  ~FAZ~
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 That was the max size released at the time. there should not be a problem with the 1Gb card.
Guest FAZZA Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Yay  I'll be getting one as soon as the shop has them
Guest Confucious Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 It's tempting, but as I'm out of work at the moment I think I'll have to wait until they come down in price. On the other hand.....
Guest Tarff Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I'm thinking the same thing! (Unless I get one as a gift!) what they said ^^
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 A guy at another company (www.mobymemory.com) has told me that he's tested the 1Gb cards they have with the C500 and it works fine
Guest yoos Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 too bad we can't have stuff shipped to the USA from the shop
Guest robertchinneck Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Hi there I've been in contact with the Richard Chung guy from Teravit, and will order my own 1GB SD card soon via SWIFT transfer to their bank account. The cost on my proforma invoice is $135/106 Euro. The SWIFT charges for a SINGLE unit (that my bank smile charge) are between £22 and £48. Unless the price quoted on my proforma has shot up, which should not be the case (Teravit confirmed the dollars price today) or my charges are wrong (the charges should be OK as smile emailed me this afternoon to confirm them), this means around £70 for the unit + a max of £48 charges. So, how can Modaco Shop justify their £149 price?! Is there something I've missed? Can someone from Modaco please answer this? Or is the extra cash just their surcharge for taking the risk and doing all the work? thanks, Rob.
Guest Confucious Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Ok- the charges are for your end - what about bank chrges their end -will Terravit absorb them or charge you? Then when it comes into this country will you pay VAT? Import Duty? Let us know what it actually cost you when you get it then tell us if you still think MoDaCo are overcharginng - bering in mind that they do have to ,make a profit too AFAIK they are not a charity for our benefit (although I know iot does seem like that at times )
Guest robertchinneck Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Here are the charges that smile told me about: I'll be charged 0.25% of the sterling value (minimum fee 13.00 pounds, maximum fee of 35.00 pounds). So for this £70 mini SD it'll be the min. £13. With SWIFT transfers, the receiving bank can also make a charge. I've been told that foreign banks charge about 9.00 pounds - 35.00 pounds (estimated). I'm assuming I'll have to pay the maximum. So the £13 and the £35 is where I got my worst case figure of £48. Apparently there can also be other possible agents fees (ie yet more charges made by the korean bank for receiving the transfer). If further agents fees do get charged do I assume I'm gonna have to pay these. I'll keep you posted.... Rob.
Guest Confucious Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 You forgot to mention the cost of shiping to the UK of $20 My bank was going to charge £18 for a TT Unless you are very lucky you will be charged at least the 17 1/2% VAT and probably duty on top. I hope you're not but it could work out more expensive than you think.
Guest RazorD Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Unless you are very lucky you will be charged at least the 17 1/2% VAT and probably duty on top. I gave up on the idea of importing things when i found out that import tax is around 25-30% (cant remember exactly, read the hm customs site) -Raz
Guest ProphetX Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 how much will it cost for us customers and how long would it take to get here?
Guest Microsoft Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 A guy at another company (www.mobymemory.com) has told me that he's tested the 1Gb cards they have with the C500 and it works fine sounds gr8t !! ;)/ [-o< =D> =p~ :D
