Guest kiddybaggie Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Syncing with outlook - everything else is fine but my contacts won't? Don't use outlook for email, but I thought I'd use it just to keep my contacts as backup, it just says 88 (I'm assuming all my contacts) unresolved items which won't resolve. Is this an outlook issue? Or is there any sync settings i have to change? Outlook contacts is currently empty.
Guest Confucious Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 In ActiveSync on Pc Click Options then Rules tab under Desctop change to what you want to do. HTH
Guest kiddybaggie Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Still can't seem to resolve the issue, what settings exactly do I have to change to sync the contacts? Or am I blatenetly missing something obvious..?
Guest Confucious Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Next to Desktop what does it say? If you change it to "Always replace item on this computer" it should work.
Guest kiddybaggie Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 It does...but still does not sync the contacts. Syncs tasks and calander fine. Settings are: desktop: Always replace the item on my computer Server: Always replace the item on my device
Guest Dr Who Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 I am guessing you restored your contacts using the Orange Backup/Restore service. For some reason the data written back is incompatible with activesync and you get this error where it cannot sync the data. Only resolution I could find is to delete all your contacts and then sync with Outlook - assuming your contacts are already in Outlook. Any you have manually added since the Orange Restore can be left on the phone. Unfortunately for me I lost my computer at the same time as I upgraded my phone and because of this fault had to manually add ALL of my contacts to Outlook, delete every entry off my phone and sync. It is pretty outrageous that the two services are mutually exclusive - I did raise this with Orange at the time but never heard anything back.
Guest kiddybaggie Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Shizzle, That'll be the problem then, unfortunately i have no contacts on outlook and all only on my phone. I assuming that means to sync on outlook, I need to install all my contacts manually onto outlook, delete all off my phone, and then sync. :? Easiest option is to not bother then and just continue to use the orange backup service for my contacts.
Guest Dr Who Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 'Fraid that is the only answer I know of. I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to edit the contacts database to make it compatible but have no idea how you would go about it. Orange Backup would be the easiest option.

After spenidng a whole day trying to Activesync my contacts to my M600 (Prophet) I have just found this thread ;) Exactly the same problem. I have my contact restored (using Orange Backup) to an Original SPV, and a C500. Is there any way of transferring the contacts to my M600 without doing the manually one by one? I remember the Nokia Data Suit allowed this with Nokia phones. Any options?? Thanks. EDIT: Just found this thread - all sorted now - Jeyo Mobile Companion works a treat. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...0&gopid=734498& Edited April 26, 2006 by Zahid
