Guest MitzEclipse Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Is anyone's WAP/GPRS working on their 5600? I have been having problems connecting to wap sites ever since yesterday morning... I haven't changed any settings at all. Thanks
Guest spindle Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 I'm using T-Mobile in N. California. No problems so far.
Guest mgama Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 T-Mobile is having some data problems in the Seattle area.

Guest MitzEclipse Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Still having problems. IE Says "Connecting" then "Finding Site" but nothing afterwards... just says page cannot be found..
Guest mgama Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Hrmmmm. I am able to check email (POP3), but HTTP does not work. I also get the "Finding site" behavior. This leads me to believe that the data services are working, but HTTP is either blocked, or having problems. This could be TMobiles plan on ending the 4.95 TZones loophole where you could access the internet. It might be time to either move to the 19.95 data plan, or none at all. Decisions. For more of this, the TMobile forum on Howard Forums has some good threads going. (Sorry mod's if mentioning HF is disallowed). http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php...threadid=510271

Is there a plain WAP browser I can use on the 5600 that will still let me access the WAP sites such as wap.switchboard.com?
Guest martin Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Are you sure it still doesn't work though the proxy server ? If you set the WAP connection to APN wap.voicestream.com Proxy to 216.155.165.50:8080, Type=HTTP IE to 'Select Network: WAP network' with 'Auto detect settings' unticked. Does it still fail ?

Martin , thanks for the tip, but i'm getting the exact same behavior as before - first "connecting" then "Finding site..". Ugh... i think the solution would be to find a wap only browser?
Guest mgama Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Martin , thanks for the tip, but i'm getting the exact same behavior as before - first "connecting" then "Finding site..". Ditto for me.
Guest MitzEclipse Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Ditto for me. What if we installed a wap only browser that doesn't use port 80?
