Guest beersoft Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 as you may or may not know, i have created a customsettings app that copies files to windows on boot up, so you can have custom control pannel settings and various other files changed as crafty pointed out, it has problems trying to copy 'system' files, those are files marked system hidden and read only should my app allow you to copy over those files, my gut feeling is no because you can poochscrew the phone, and i haven't worked out a nice way of doing it (i have the 'this is how its done' code but it don't work) do you want me to let you guys break your phones or should i play it safe/continue being lazy later Owen
Guest drblow Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I wanted to click all 3 options. But I guess that the worst case scenario is yet another hard reset, so go ahead, lemme break my phone! I'm an adult & I can break it if I want! :D
Guest kurtfhouse Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Yeah go on mate, let us trash 'em, go crazy
Guest nedge2k Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 I wanna break my phone! :D You could always make an nbf patcher instead
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 The meek shall inherit the Earth. The Lazy could've if we'd wanted to, we just couldn't be bothered. I vote LAZY!
Guest ghm101 Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Why not have an "Advanced Mode" switch in your app. With it Active the training wheels are off - copy all - and the user accepts the consequences of their actions . With it switched "off" - i.e. normal mode only safe files would be copied Training wheels kneepads, elbow pads, helmet, jockstrap.
Guest Confucious Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 How many people would send their phones back to Orange / HTC after totally screwing it up and deny they had done it?
Guest ghm101 Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 This might be a dumb question but.. Wouldn't a hard reset sort it out :?:
Guest Confucious Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Probably - but I'm sure it wouldn't stop some people....
Guest beersoft Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 well, booting your phone without the sd card in would fix anything you break, but dont tell anyone that, its a secret  later Owen
