UK network locked phone - work abroad?

I have a SPV C500 networked locked to Orange in the UK

Can I take this phone abroad, say to Western Europe or USA and expect it to work on a foreign country's network?

What do you mean? If you mean roaming where Orange have agreements with other suppliers then yes it will work. If you mean can you put in a SIM from another network then no it won't work - as yopu say your phone is locked.

Yes. I meant to put in a foreaign SIM, for example At&T in USA or some European network sim.

Your phone is locked to Orange in the UK - to get it to work with another SIM you need to SIM unlock it.
