first charge of c500 batt - 16 hours?!?!?

today, i got my e200-to-c500 upgrade from orange 2 weeks early (along with 500 free texts a month for threatening to terminate my contract due to increasingly expensive monthly bills) and the lady i spoke to last night said i needed to charge the battery for 16 hours prior to using it!! is this correct, considering it says just 3 hours in the manual?

incidentally, as soon as i plugged the phone in to charge it, the led was only orange for a few seconds and then turned green. it's been green ever since - i started charging it at 5pm. should i read anything into this? ie. was the battery already charged, meaning the phone isnt brand, spanking new?

maybe the battery that came with your phone is already partially charged.

and i dont think that it is necessary for you to charged the batt for 16 hours. it would be fully charge in an hour or two even when the battery is totally drained out.

technically if the phone was brand new you would need to charge fully

but in orange case, they tend to get back/repair them and put in new phones etc

when I got mine its was only charging for a few mins maybe the batterys in the phone come charged

Yeh was strange my phone came fully charged from orange :S

mine also came fully charged from orange, took 2 days to get it to 10%, was VERY VERY impressed with battery life compared to my E200

I am as certain as I can be that my phone was brand new and it came fully charged from Orange.

Got to admit that's the biggest load of, I have ever heard ](*,)

You will find most batteries are sent out charged but over time they will

slowly lose their charge.

It is still a good idea to charge the phone to make sure it is topped up.

The charging long charging was needed om old batteries the new ones like li-ion don't have "memory" like the old once had, just make sure its green and your good to go..

I think the initial charge should be at least 6 months. during this time you should not touch the phone. :)
