Guest prakash Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Hi guys! I phoned orange today to ask for my phoen upgrade as its coming to a year now on 22nd Dec. I asked them how much is it to upgrade to c500, they said £80.00. I explained to them that i mite be going on holiday around the 22nd Dec (when it is a whole 1 year)so i wanna get it sorted now, they said even if i upgrade now they're gonna charge me £75.00 to upgrade now.......even thou its ONLY 13days to go! I thawt that was just stupid. My phone bills come to about £80.00 a month.........so basically they shoudl be giving the c500 for FREE to me. Plus the c500 is on pay as you go for £140.00 on their ORANGE WEBSITE! Im on every50, been with orange for 4 years now. Is that how they are supposed to treat LOYAL customers who have been with them for years? I got the E200 for FREE last year after i went to cancellations to complain and the normal upgrade phone line were saying £80.00 and nO LOWER. Should go thru cancellation again this year? Why cant they give the fone to me now, its only a 13 days, why does it make a huge difference? Anybody else had problems with orange upgrade and customer service? Ash
Guest Johnny Yen Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 What about waiting till you get back from holiday and upgrading through the website ? The website says it's free on monthly contracts. I have a tendency to lose phones in foreign bars..
Guest prakash Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 serious?...........is it free? So if i bought it from the here on 22nd dec (when contract is up) i would get on my everyday 50 tariff for free? What the webopage pls? Thanks Ash

Guest Confucious Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Someone else had this problem (I believe they were spending about £50/month) and threatened to leave and all of a sudden Orange gave him the phone for nothing and 500 texts a month extra. The don't like it if you threaten to leave but if you don't then they take the mick. Or so it seems.
Guest olly_k Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I have been with Orange for over 6 years, have paid bills in excess of £200 but average is about £60 - £80, and had a T68 upgrade which was over a year old. I rang orange and asked them to match a 3 tarrif, which they would do, but they wouldn't offer me a descent phone as well. The best being a T610 or V500 :? Anyway about 4 days of persistant phonecalls and telling them I wasn't happy (and I was running out of arguments by this time  ) they finally suggested the c500, which I hadn't heard of so after getting all the details I snapped it up and well, as they say the rest is history :D
Guest flyswat Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I don't know if it's of any relevance, but, O may be being mean because you are on everyday 50 tariff. I know when I upgraded about 9mths ago I was told although I was entering a new 1 year contract, because I was on everyday 50 tariff I couldn't upgrade again for 18 months; it's probably an attempt to get people to change off the tariff, as not many tariffs offer 1p minute off-peak landline calls. You could always see if changing to another tariff may persuade Orange to let you have the C500 at a more realistic price, especially as its free for new contracts.
Guest olly_k Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Does this mean that now I am on select 500 tarrif I may be penalised when I upgrade next year?
