Is there a Remote Control app out there?

Is there an app that can use my Smartphone as a replacement for my existing remotes (tv, dvd, etc)? I've noticed that the PocketPC and Palm have apps that do this, buit I cannot find one for SPs. All I have found is an app that lets me control the PC (not what I want).
