Thinking of moving to a C500 - couple of questions ...

Hello All,

I have an MPX200, and due to the seeming inability of Orange to release the MPX220, I am toying with the C500.

I just checked the Modaco shop and the C500 looks a good price, but it's prepay.

So now I have 2 questions :

(1) the prepay handset appears to be "locked" ( as opposed to the "developer" handset on the site for another £70 which is "unlocked" ) - is this the famous certification lock ? I unlocked my original SPV, and later the MPX200 (using the infamous cab file) - so can the C500 be unlocked in similar fashion? I've bought 3rd party apps which obviously I'd like to be able to use on the C500.

(2) Is there anything I should know about the fact that it's a prepay handset, like for example different APNs in the GPRS settings etc ??

OK

1. The prepay C500 will be both SIM locked and application locked whereas the developer phone will be neither. The OTA unlock method on the developer site can be used to application unlock the prepay C500.

2. If on the Orange network then the prepay and contract GPRS settings are the same.
