Hello all,

Didn't really know where to post this but being as how I need some help and advice I thought this would be the best place.

I have recently had my C500 running TomTom mobile which with the Traffic update worked fine. I have also recently had my car broken into and the BT GPS unit knicked :evil: although they did leave my C500 :?: Anyhow, my friend has a Fortuna Clip on BT which according to some posts here should work. My problem is I cannot get it to. I have removed the previous BT GPS unit and re-named the Fortuna one to 'TomTom Wireless GPS' as suggetsed. I have reset and re-activated the Com port 7 but nothing seems to work. I have read a post where somebody has got a Fortuna Clip On working. If this works I can buy this GPS unit off my mate and jobs a gudun. :)

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

You do not need to rename the bt device after using the update.

follow the instructions in the TomTom post in News, you do not need

to reactivate the com port once deleted start up TomTom and after about a minute and a half you should be prompted to restart the phone and that's it.

I don't understand what's happening then. I have removed all bluetooth devices, disabled Com7, restarted my phone, re-discovered the Fortuna Clip On, left it as it is named in the bluetooth menu, re-started TomTom Mobile and it just sits there saying "The GPS signal was lost 6.05 min ago"

Am i doing something wrong?

Do not re-discover the device let tomtom do it.

Have a look at the tomtom post in News I have written a guide there.

Thanks for the prompt response. I've read your guide and as suggested I've done the following :-

To connect with bluetooth:

* throw away all TomTom Wireless GPS - devices from your BlueTooth settings (menu Settings (4) - BlueTooth ( )

* DISABLE COM7 - support (menu Configurations (997) - BT SerialPortSetup (2) - second checkbox)

* start TomTom MOBILE (wait 1:30 minute; there should be a beep and another question 'This application is not known...')

* exit TomTom MOBILE

* switch your phone off and on again

* start TomTom MOBILE and you should have a connection with the TomTom Wireless GPS...

My problem is, it just sits there as before. I'm now at "The GPS signal was lost 4.10 min ago". The Fortuna has two green led's lit up to show good battery and a fix, and the Bluetooth light is blinking the majority of the time but TomTom doesn't do anything. Sorry to be a pain. Would really like to sort this one out.

Maybe a nights sleep will fix it? :roll:

Wahoo I've figured it out. :(

I removed all bonded bluetooth devices, turned off Com 6 and 7, rebooted phone, activated Com 7 and bonded with Fortuna Clipon ONLY when it told me to after activating COM7 and not before. Bonded with the Clipon and ran TomTom. Lo and behold it worked.

Happy Bunny
