Orange C500 I can't get my pictures onto my PC :(

I've taken some pictures with my camera phone that I really need to save to my PC

I've tried everything... but I can't upload the pictures I have on my phone to my PC !

I can do it the other way round... drag and drop or copy and paste the pictures from my PC to my phone, with no problems at all.

I'm running ACDsee version 5 on my computer.

Please, anyone? :cry:

Welcome to the forum :(

The best way is to connect the phone to your PC with ActiveSync and use that to copy them across. Alternatively, if they're on your storage card you could use a card reader.

If you don't already have ActiveSync you can download it from Microsoft here

Stu, i think he has active sync, he says he can copy the other way. I had a similar problem and OTA unlocking the phone helped.

I don't see how application unlocking the phone would help her but she doesn't actually mention ActiveSync. :wink:

Ok Mandy. First thing, welcome to the forum.

An unusual problem. If you can copy files too your phone I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to copy them from your phone.

ACDsee is, I believe a picture viewer/organiser so is fairly irrelevant. What operating system are you using on your PC?

When you try dragging and dropping the files to the PC what happens? Do you get an error message? When you copy them do you get a paste option? Have you tried creating a new folder on the PC (eg c:pics) just in case the folder you are trying to put them in is locked?

Do you have a card reader or are you using ActiveSync?

Let us know how you get on and I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.

Right, here goes....

Yes I have Activesync. I've made profiles and themes and activesynced them across to my phone, I've uploaded pictures onto my phone. The only problem I seem to have is getting photos off my phone onto my computer.

I'm running windows 98.

I don't have a card reader.... don't really need one as the pics are stored locally in my phone and not on a memory card.

When I drag and drop or copy and paste the pics to the PC nothing happens at all. I have to option to 'paste' but when I do, nothing happens.

When I reverse it and put the pics on my phone from my pc the usual happens when you copy any file or folder.

I've tried creating a folder especially for the pictures but that doesn't work either.

I'm just about ready to tear my hair out now :cry:

Well, Confucious is cleverer-er than me and he'll no doubt be along shortly, but in the meantime what about checking the photo file properties ?

Mine only have the 'Archive' box ticked, yours might have 'Read-only' or 'System' ticked. Can you tell I'm guessing ? :?

I used to use a Win98 PC when I had my E200 and had no problems with that arrangement.

Are you trying to paste the files in ACDsee? or Windows Explorer? Having just tried a few things I find that if you copy from your phone you can't paste directly into an application but if you paste in Explorer you can than copy and paste that file into an application.

Do you have the latest version of Activsync 3.7.1

Another thing to check is if you are using a USB hub, if you are that can

cause problems.

I would also try rebooting the phone and then immediately connect the

phone and try to copy the pictures over.

Finally try rebooting your PC with the phone connected and check any firewall settings as that is also something else that can cause problems.

It's unusual that you are not getting any error messages.

Yes I have the latest version of Activsync, upgraded it a while ago. I'm not using a USB hub. I've tried rebooting both the phone and the PC and still no luck.

Do you think the problem is because I upgraded my C500? I can't recall having this problem before. It's been a while since I've tried to upload photos to my PC from my phone so I really can't remember.

I would not say it's due to the update as I have not encountered the problem myself. There is always the be all and end all Hard Reset.

Can you confirm that you can't paste into windows Explorere on your PC and you are not trying to paste directly into ACDsee?

Yes I was trying to paste directly into ACDsee, which of course didn't work. I now paste into files within ACDsee using explorer and have all my phone pics on my computer :)
