C500 and TOMTOM from MMC to Mini SD !

Well I have followed the good advice earlier on a tips thread here, regarding transferring the Tomtom SW from MMC (Original) to 512MB Mini SD.... All that is required is the 3 main folders copied across then install the 'Traffic' update and everything works perfectly...

Here is what I want to know though !!!

After doing all this (From Nokia S60 to C500 SP2003), the original Tomtom GPS works fine... But the Altina 708 will not 'Pair' with Tomtom at all, I have tried renaming the 'Altina' to 'Tomtom wireless gps' etc, still nothing !

Have any of you guys any ideas... or should I just sell the Altina BT GPS and get a Fortuna.... What do you think ? (Confucious, awarner) it would be good to hear your comments :) (Keep up the good work)

BTW The Altina works great with Route66 on the S60 platform but again it will not work with Tomtom on S60 either !

Any help greatly welcomed :(

It is my understanding that Tom Tom Mobile only works with the supplied GPS Receiver.

Though I'm sure the more knowledgable here will correct me if I'm wrong.

Other GPS Receivers work with TomTom mobile, i've tried it with a Fortura Clip-on and it works fine.

I did have problems getting it to work at first, last resort is to hard reset the phone and try again.

Surely you got the receiver with the software as you can't buy the software by itself?

''the original Tomtom GPS works fine'' Of course it does.... The MMC and Tomtom receiver were bought at the same time !

I have put the MMC SW on Mini SD to try on C500.... It works fine with TT BT GPS but I need another reciever so I can have both working in both cars ! I cannot buy another TT GPS without SW again... This I'm not doing....

So I need another compatible BT GPS to work on C500....

PS Yes.... Rather confusing....

PPS Does anyone have a list of working GPS Units that will work with TT.... If not looks like a Fortuna :) or another Original TT GPS unit from Ebay at about 80 quid :(

check your bluetooth settings:

start -> configurationss -> BT Serial port setup ->

then make sure both the inbound & outbound com port boxes are ticked (mine show ports 6 & 7 respectively).

any good?

Better read your EULA it states you are only allowed to install TomTom Mobile on to one device.

1) GRANT OF LICENSE: This TomTom License Agreement ("License") permits you to use the TomTom computer program

and the digital (map) data included in the accompanying package acquired with this License on any single computer,

provided the Software is installed on only one computer at any time and provided the Software is combined only with one

(1) navigation system. This License is non-exclusive and non-transferable.
