Guest coyspiracy Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 i dont know if anyone else is having this problem, but recently i haven't been able to surf the net. iv'e been recieving the message "the page you are looking for is not found".. do i have to upgrade to the $9.99 plan if that's the case? :)
Guest smeg36 Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 No, you would have to upgrade to the $19.99 plan. That recently happened to me, and I talked to muliple levels of tech support. When I finally talked to someone who knew what a Smartphone was, and how I was accessing the internet with it, they told me they were restricting that access and I had to get the $19.99 plan.
Guest jleecong Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 This is a problem and T-Mobile has blocked access for any no standard browser. Because people were tethering devices and not using "the mobile web" they blocked access to other browsers. IE and Opera no longer work for me but my Nokia 3650s built in browser works fine. Using the passthrue of my computer this is what the SMT-5600 IDs itself as. Http Code: 200 Date: Dec 12 05:08:50 Http Version: HTTP/1.1 Size in Bytes: 1035 Referer: - Agent: AUDIOVOX-SMT5600/Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220)

If you use a phone then you should be able to get on the net with 4.99. I need to call in myself and get them to take care of it but if you surf from you phone then you should only have to pay 4.99. T-Mo need to redo the filter. http://www.t-mobile.com/services/tzones/se...iceoverview.asp "t-zones gives you unlimited access to the Mobile Web and your e-mail!" I myself can access pop mail, but no Mobile web or e-mail as thier decription states. http://voicestream.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/vo...ated=1026495085 "T-Zones is a phone-driven service", "T-Mobile Internet is a wireless network that allows you access to the Internet with your PDA, data card, or laptop." Now I myself no longer own a PDA and only want to surf from my phone and not any other device as stated in the description.
Guest smeg36 Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Well, 99% of the time I am connecting with my X50v through Bluetooth, so I do need the $19.99 plan. Howerever, I am fairly sure that the statement T-Mobile posts about what their T-Zones can access only applies to their specifically labeled T-Zones enabled phones.
Guest coyspiracy Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 hmmM. does the 19.99 plan work perfectly when its used as a usb modeM?
Guest coyspiracy Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 do i go for VPN T-Mobile Internet or Unlimited T-Mobile Internet with MyEmail??
Guest jleecong Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Z-Tones doesn't work from my phone but thats not T-Mo's problem as you state. It is thier problem that T-Zones includes Mobile Internet and EMail which I do want to use. I tested my phone and everything worked so I didn't return it etc., signed a updated contract.. Now a month later what I signed up for is no longer working/valid. I told the guy when I signed my new contract of the different phone, he said nothing.
Guest jleecong Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Yes works the same as T-Zones did but with more open ports. Unlimited T-Mobile Internet with MyEmail.
Guest coyspiracy Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 yea. that's what it says online..its a 19.99 plan..im not sure if thats the one tho..
Guest coyspiracy Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 will i have to wait 24 hrs for it to take effect?
Guest smeg36 Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 If you don't know which unlimited plan to get, just get the regular MyEmail $19.99 plan. I am assuming that anyone who needs the VPN will know they do. When I signed up, it took about 1 min. to start working, not 24 hrs. vJust remember to change your data settings from wap.voicestream.com to internet2.voicestream.com (or internet3).
Guest clenaghen Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I called T-Mobile on 12/11 and the customer support person told me that it appeared that they were having problems with T-Zones and access to the internet and other WAP sites (besides T-Zones sites). To be sure, she forwarded me onto the Data Technical Support Dept. I explained that I was using a non-T-mobile supported phone (Qtek 8080) and was paying for the $4.99 plan and up until recently I was able to surf non-Tzones sites and other internet sites and he also told me that they were having problems with T-zones and access to the internet and they were working on the problem, but couldnt give me an ETA for resolution. I told him that I had heard a rumor that T-mobile was blocking internet access on non-supported phones using the $4.99 plan and he told me that it was incorrect and that it was just a problem with the WAP T-zones and internet access outside of T-zones. So, for what its worth, thats what I heard. I have a hard time believing that after several days they still dont have the problem fixed. But, who knows. I am not going to give up on the $4.99 plan and jump ship to the $19.99 plan yet... give them a little longer, then maybe make a call again.
Guest coyspiracy Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 nice one..keep us updated..let us know when its fixed...i already switched to the 19.99 plan so there's no knowing if it's fixed or not..thanx

I get email fine but haven't had Internet access for about 5 days.
Guest clenaghen Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Yes, I can send/receive email, and I told the data support tech this. He seemed pretty confident that he knew what the problem was. But, again, I cant see how this has taken several days to fix. I'll wait a couple more days.
Guest clenaghen Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Ok, bad news. I have a friend at work who has a T-mobile supported Sony T610 phone and I popped my SIM card into his phone and fired up T-Zones and it worked fine. I was able to access Yahoo's WAP site (wap.oa.yahoo.com) and MSN's WAP site (mobile.msn.com). So, its looking like T-mobile HAS done something with the $4.99 plan and non-supported phones. I am going to double-check the settings on my Qtek 8080 and see if there is something I missed, but, I am thinking I am dead in the water unless I go with the $20 internet plan. I am thinking screw T-mobile. At least as a customer they could have notified me that they were making changes to the $4.99 plan. At least at that point I would have known instead of having to guess for several days now and get the run-around.
Guest smeg36 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 As you stated, they didn't make any changes to SUPPORTED phones. How are they to know you do not have a supported T-Zones phone? I don't think we have any right to be angry that we are no longer able to use a loophole to get amazingly cheap, unrestricted, unlimited internet access. Even the $19.99 plan is better than any plan any other company is offering, and I for one am happy to be able to pay it.
Guest jleecong Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I figured out the cause and solution. I'll be posting a full article shortly.
Guest clenaghen Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 After over 2 weeks of tinkering with the settings on my phone, trying all the suggested confgurations on this site and on other sites to no avail, out of sheer frustrations I changed my internet plan over from T-zones unlimited to the $19.99 unlimited plan and what do you know? About 15 minutes later, internet is working again on my phone. Spent a couple minutes making a change to the config on my phone and internet came right up. This really leads me to believe that, at least in my area, something was being done to block access to the internet/WAP sites on my phone on the $4.99 plan. I dont know if this is a permanent or temporary problem with T-mobile, but it completely ruled out any issues with my phone. I know I tried virtually every possible configuration combination to get the T-zones to work, so I can say with almost complete confidence that it wasnt the config. Anyways, thought someone might find this interesting if anyone has still not been able to get their T-zones to work. Although I have internet again, this is pretty irritating. I'll be calling T-mobile about this soon.
