OK,

I've posted this before, and there may be a post out there that has already answered this question which I don't know about, but today it finally got to me. Every, and I mean EVERY time I plug my SPV E200 into it's cradle it tries to Sync. Which is fine. But EVERY time it does this it ALWAYS wants to connect to the internet.

If you can imagine sitting working on your computer, with your phone sync to outlook, organising your time and your phone ringing every 5 min all day and you DONT want to be connected to the net all day, the amount of CANCEL button clicking is driving me insane!! It crashed my computer today and I've had enough!

Can someone please give me back my sanity.

Have you check the activesync settings on the phone and PC. There should be a settings to include remote sync to server when conncted to the PC. It could be this trying to open a GPRS connection.

:::::Nope checked that before. It's weird that I seem to be the only one with this problem. Also I re-installed Windows not that long ago and the problem was there before, and after:::::

What version of Activsync are you using?

Have you checked all the Activsync settings on the phone ie

in ActivsyncPC settings there is the option "Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC"

Note I am checking the settings with my C500 as I do not have my E200 at hand but

the settings option should be the same.

Moved to Help and Advice.

My activesync does the same. I am on Broadband but I can see it 'connecting' every time I plug my phone in (I have an E200 as well) and when I plug my phone in at work it also tries to connect.

My E100 used to do the same, but I only noticed this since I upgraded my ActiveSync to the latest version 3.7.1.

All I can recommend is that you use a personal firewall like ZoneAlarm to block ActiveSync, I did this on my old machine (pre broadband) and the phone synced fine. Or if you have Windows XP use the builtin firewall to block ActiveSync.

Hope this helps.

Tried it but my settings are the same.

Take it everyone wants me to stop ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::ing?

Under PC settings on the phone it should have the name of your PC and both check boxes should be checked if you want to Sync with your PC. Under advanced the Enable PC Sync using this connection type should be ticked and the connection type set to USB (this works for BT as well).

Under Server settings make sure Inbox, Calendar and Contacts all have the checkbox unticked.

You are right, everyone does want you to stop ::::::::::ing :)

Let us know if you are still having problems, I'm sure someone here will be able to find out what's causing it.

Good luck.

If you have XP SP2 you can block individual programs from connecting to the Internet.

On my machine is shows as Connection Manger under the list of exceptions and you can just clear the tick to stop it from ever connecting out.

That's if you have SP2 :?:

Try changing the passthrough connection (PC Activesync->Options->Rules-?Pass through) to Work rather than internet. Does it still try and conect?

Do you have any apps that try and get info from the internet (eg Mobipocket, Citytimes etc)?

Pass through is on Work. Only app that I can think of is Outlook? Would the settings there matter?

Under your email do you have any accounts set to use "Work"? Have you tried changing your passthrough to "Internet"?

You can still use the 'program blocker' firewall in SP2 on XP-Pro as well.

If you have not got this already loaded just click on Windows Update on your start menu (its big and can take over an hour on broadband)

Tried passthrough on 'Internet' - didn't work.

Gonna try SP2 cos my computer is just Xp pro. This may take a while. :)

I'd still rather know why it's doing it aswell as blocking it though. Anyone got anymore suggestions?
