Currently I have a SPV e200, I basically love it. Compared to any other phone typically sold here in the states, it owns them all. Problem is its been dropped and banged up a bit (i work construction). I know, not the best choice for a construction worker :) Anyways, I'm getting insurance thought T-mobile, and most likely they are going to give me a piece of crap. Nothing they have can compare to the e200, so basically im hoping they'll just give me something expensive i can resell. After doing so, I'm not sure what phone i should buy though. I could turn around and buy an O2 Xphone (or is the SPV e200 better?) The Audiovox SMT 5600 (once again, i dont know if the orange version SPV C500 is better) or The Sierra Wireless Voq A11. I'm assuming the xphone is the same as the e200 i have now, so thats not a bad choice, but are either of the newer two phones i mentioned better? I havent even seen the Sierra wireless phone at more than a few sites, but it looks cool and has a flip out keyboard, but i dont know if its going to be worth the extra 200 dollars.

Anyone have comments?

Thanks

As you are talking dollars are we to assume you are in the USA?

The SPV C500 is a lot betrter than the e200 (there are many threads explaining why so I won't go into detail here) so your only real choice is C500 or 5600. The 5600 is triband 850/1800/1900 and the C500 is 900/1800/1900 so if you need either 850 or 900 then the choice is obvious other than that it comes down to price. The C500 can be bougfht from Modaco for £149 (that's UKP and the exchange rate isn't very good for people in the USA at the moment) and i habve no idea what you can get a 5600 for. You would have to pay another £20 to have the C500 unlocked to work on other networks of course.

You could, of course buy another e200 and if you are lucky and really want something out of date you might be able to find an original SPV somehere :)

As for the voq - it's popularity (or lack of it) speaks for itself. It's to big in size and to small in features IMHO.

The choice, as they say, is yours.

Anyone know if Audiovox SMT 5600 differs from the C500?

and yes i found the feature list for the Voq, its pathetic.

What other cool smartphones are out there, since i do live in the US, we basically get s*** for phones, so i dont know what all is out there.

The only major differences are the bands supported (see my previous post) and the 5600 has WMP10 (the C500 only has WMP9). The C500 also has some extra s/ware which is specific to Orange in the UK so useless to you. The hardware is the same.

In terms of Smartphones, the other obvious choice is the Motorola MPx220. It should be out in the states and it's a nice looking clam-shell. However, given the choice between the two, I'd go for the C500/5600 by a distance as there's been a lot of bugs reported with the MPx220.

If you don't mind swapping to another smartphone platform, then you should be able to find the Nokia 6620, Nokia 7610, SonyEricsson P910a and Treo 650 available for purchase locally.
