Guest lekus Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Taken from this thread over at The DVD Forums: http://www.thedvdforums.co.uk/forums/showt...ad.php?t=337274 Basically Handango are offering free software: "As a thank you for an amazing year, we want to give you something in return, FREE SOFTWARE. That's right....we're giving away FREE software. Beginning November 30, 2004, each week we'll feature new software for FREE until January 31, 2005. Get the scoop on how to redeem your FREE software below." It looks like they are giving away free software for most (all?) the device types they cater for, including Smartphones! Link: http://www.handango.com/HandangoHolidayPromo.jsp This weeks free software is SmartphoneFind - "SmartphoneFind 1.0 is designed to search for the following item types: - Contacts - Appointments - Tasks - SMS - E-mails - File names (*) - Phone calls from call history - SmartphoneNotes (if installed)" Just click the "Free Download" button and it will be added to your basket with a discount for the same price, taking the total to $0. Fill in your name and address and you will be taken to a page with the download and a registration key.
Guest MaJiK Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Sweet! Just downloaded SmartphoneFind (originally $9.95) - Thanks for pointing this out lekus - Good work fella :)
Guest Confucious Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I got an email about this a couple of days ago. I couldn't find the free software button on Handagobut just tried again and after updating my account details I found the button. I just downloaded SmartphoneFind and tried it - For nothing it is a great app :) Looking forward to receiving more free s/ware. PS has anyone else noticed that the UK version of HAndago sems to be a waste of space? It doesn't even have the C500 as a device wheras the main version does.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Sweet, nice to have something free once in a while as handango can be a bit on the expensive side.
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Not meaning to sound *too* ungrateful, but... this promo has been going a few weeks now, but this is the first worthwhile bit of software they've given away. Cool app though, I nearly bought this a week or so ago!
Guest sparkisgti Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 nice for you guys who didnt buy it, but a bit of a bum deal for those of us that bought it when it came out
Guest Confucious Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 nice for you guys who didnt buy it, but a bit of a bum deal for those of us that bought it when it came out  That will teach you to actually buy things :( I guess I'd be hacked off if I'd bought it, but as I didn't I'm rather pleased :)
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Very cool ... really nice X-Mas gift indeed! Anyone know what we missed in the first 2 weeks of the promotion??
Guest Martijn© Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Damn ! I just bought SmartPhoneFind a week ago ! Going to write an e-mail to "Syncdata" :!: I want my money back ...... :?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Damn ! I just bought SmartPhoneNotes a week ago ! Going to write an e-mail to "Syncdata" :!: I want my money back ...... :? Hmmmm first of all they are giving SmartphoneFind away for free, not SmarphoneNotes. Second of all ... tough cookie! Maybe next week there'll be something there that you didn't pay for!

Maybe next week there'll be something there that you didn't pay for! I meant SP Notes ... (edited my post) This answer I got from Syncdata : Hello contact Handango support,as they are managing all details of this Free Download operation. Best regards Giuseppe Govi Product support Syncdata
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Yeah, good luck getting anywhere at all with Handango FWIW the folks on my-symbian have been less than impressed with the quality of the freebies too. SmartphoneFind is the first decent app that i've seen (didn't bother looking last week TBH cos the first one was so poor) It's only the lower value stuff, and the first one was so poor/useless that I laughed out loud when I saw it. Can't even remember what it was now...
Guest joedoe Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I don't know when their week starts, but today I downloaded SplashPhoto for free. Is it any good? I would rather get SmartphoneFind instead.
Guest fozzie Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Too late; that was last weeks app. How are you finding SplashPhoto?
Guest Confucious Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I'm just downloading it now -looks Ok at the price :)
Guest fozzie Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 What's the catch? Why do you think there's a catch?
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 It's just to encourage people to keep going back to their website, and hopefully to buy stuff while they are there.
Guest blaznc Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Anyway anyone could post up the software from past weeks so people who didn't get a chance to download it can still? Thank!! Brandon
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Anyway anyone could post up the software from past weeks so people who didn't get a chance to download it can still? Thank!! Brandon Afraid not as we do not have permission to do so. The software was only available for that week so if it's been missed unfortunately you will have to pay for it now.
Guest bluesxman Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 It's IM+ (MSN and Yahoo) this week. Just as I was looking for a IM app too! :)
Guest Pondrew Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Too late; that was last weeks app. How are you finding SplashPhoto? I've been downloading the freebie software myself. With regard Splashphoto, how come it doesn't want to recognise the vast majority of the pics I have on my storage card and phone? I thought by refreshing it would display all pics? Instead it will only display some generic pics (ie, not taken by me or put on my phone by me...). Oh, and about to check out IM+ but seems a pretty worthwhile download to me!
