C500 with BMW Bluetooth

I'm currently using a SPV E200, which doesn't work with my factory-installed BMW Bluetooth carkit (3 Series BMW, a couple of months old). I'm thinking of changing my phone to a C500 if that one will work OK with my carkit. I've searched various Smartphone forums (including this one) and BMW forums, but I've got conflicting answers about whether the C500 really works with the BMW system or not. If anybody can spread any light on this, please let me know. I don't want to shell out for a new C500 just to find that it doesn't work any better with my carkit than my current E200.

So, if there's anybody out there who's got their C500 to work with the BMW bluetooth prep, I'd be really grateful if you could you let me know which software version you have on the BMW, and which functions work correctly : Receive calls, Make calls, Steering wheel controls, Automatic phonebook sync, manual pushing of phonebook entries from phone to car, Voice dialling, on-screen display of signal strength etc.
