Guest modularcarpet Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I have managed to set up BT Activesync without too much pain (after reading other posts), but how do I disconnect? I can disconnect from the pc, by disconnecting a device using the bluetooth software that comes with my card, but I can't find a way to disconnect from the phone itself. I like to sync my data whilst my PC is upstairs. So having to disconnect from the PC itself is a bit of a pain. I can disconnect from the phone by switching off Bluetooth, but it's not a very stylish method 8-), and you have to switch it back on again. Any ideas? Thanks.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Yeah, it does seem a bit ridiculous. The way I'm doing it is to hold down the home button and that takes you to the "QuickList", which then takes you to Bluetooth Setup etc. Seems long winded compared to hitting "stop" on a Pocket PC!
Guest modularcarpet Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Thanks for your help :-) I didn't know you could hold down the Home key to bring up quick list. Useful
Guest nedge2k Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 While in activesync on the phone, quicky press sync twice and it will disconnect :) You may also notice that the button will change from sync to stop...but u cant always see that :?
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Didn't realise it could be done like that. I had tried before to catch the Stop button on the desktop version by pressing Sync, which does seem to work. Both do seem a bit messy, and you do need to be really quick!
Guest Confucious Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I tend to leave mine connected, that way I can use passthrough to browse. The easiest method for me to disconnect is to go into the kitchen which is just out of BT range :)
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 My issue is that I've got a lovely iPaq rx3715 that also needs to sync. Since I've only got one desktop, and I don't know of any way of getting them to sync with each other, and ActiveSync can only handle one at a time, and I don't have an exchange server, I need to disconnect and reconnect all the time. Anyway, it's a better situation than having to input the same data into three different places manually, so I suppose I shouldn't complain! Incidentally, something I love about the WiFi on my iPaq is the range within which I can sync with my PC. A live inbox wherever I am in the house...
Guest modularcarpet Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Thanks guys! I see what you mean by needing to be quick! At least I can do it without being near the PC. My issue is that I've got a lovely iPaq rx3715 that also needs to sync. Since I've only got one desktop, and I don't know of any way of getting them to sync with each other, and ActiveSync can only handle one at a time, and I don't have an exchange server, I need to disconnect and reconnect all the time. I have an Ipaq 2210. One of my main reasons for choosing the C500 over the K700 was the ability to sync properly - I would have thought that both the Ipaq and C500 being M$, syncing between the two would be possile, but, alas no. Now I just need to connect to internet with my Ipaq using C500 as a Bluetooth modem - read other posts, with complicated dial strings, but couldn't get it to work - need to have another play/read of posts. Have you managed it kyrke?
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 I had the same thoughts when I first got an SPV (origina), and already owned an iPaq 3630, but couldn't find any way for them to sync. However, then it was more annoying as everything was done with wires. However, I eventually got it working over Infrared, which was almost as bad as getting Bluetooth working! I haven't yet tried using the phone as a modem, although I will one day. It's ridiculous given half the stuff that both the phone and the iPaq can do, they can't manage some of the much more simple things. The one that amazed me most was the lack of character counter for text messages on the original SPV!
