Guest niacin65 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Is the charger and synch cable that comes with the C500 the same as the ones that HTC ships with the SPV E100 Canary SAP1 or E200 Voyager SAP2? I've found a second hand unit but it doesnt come with a charger or sync cable. I also have one of those handy Brando sync cables which might work until I can buy the real one....
Guest Confucious Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 It is a standard USB cable with Mini-USB plug, I have a few of them which iI have got with other things (Card reader, blackberry etc.) and they all work. I don't know if the charger is the same though. The cable will charge from the PC but I don' know if the charger from earlier phones will work with the C500 - Lot's of chargers don't as it needs to send a data signal. I'm sure someone else will be able to let you know for sure.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Earlier SPV models didn't use mini-USB unfortunately
Guest Papa Smurf Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Are you sure its a legit phone? No charger or data cable sounds a bit dodgy to me, its not like you would miss place the charger. Just a thought, might be completly wrong.

Just a thought, might be completly wrong. A buddy of mine owns a cellphone shop here in Philippines. Once or twice a month he goes to England (since he is a resident there) and buys second hand phones. This is one unit he bought in a lot of about 30. Since he is not familiar with this particular model, he didnt know the charger was propriatary. But thanks for your input, any clue about the charger question?
Guest Confucious Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 He buys lots of 30 stolen phones ?
Guest niacin65 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Rest assured, I will be checking the IMEI number with Orange before any purchase takes place. Since I was ripped off by the infamous "stclive" with his fake c500 sale, I find it ironic that some posters are "reminding" me that I might be pursuing the purchase of a hot phone, or that my friend of many years, is in any way a crook....(sigh)
Guest Papa Smurf Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Orange web site sells both. :) Didn't relise that you had been ripped off before and that you were buying from a friend who you trust. Good luck with the purchase.
Guest Confucious Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 No offence meant, just to those of us who know nothing of these things the only person I could think of that would be selling 30 phones without chargers and leads would be a thief. I am sure there is another explanation and if you are satisfied then fine. I didn't realise you had been ripped off by stclive (I am still amaized that he hasn't been coaught - sorry about that) but if the thought had not crossed your mind then someone mentioninhg it might have prompted you to investigate further. As you obviously trust your friend and the provenance of the phone then good luck and I hope you have a bargain.
Guest niacin65 Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 No problem, I know that Smartphone users are protective against theft, I am too. So anyway, I got it SIM unlocked today using www.imei-check.com and that worked flawlessly. Then I did an OTA application unlock and that was easy too. I also found out that ANY universal mini USB cable works for sync, such as a Nokia dke-2, or motorola sync cable, or N-Gage cable, or even one from a 5 way card reader that has a seperate cable attached. Nice that they have made it a universal cable now instead of trying to find spare and replacements chargers and cables from limited resources.
