what do the symbols mean?

hi,

anyone know what the G dispalyed on the top of the spv c500 is? just got the phone but manual is useless.

if you know of any other that i might find strange please let me know.

Hi

G means that GPRS is available.

If I remember correctly a G appears next to the little ariel signal stregth bar when GPRS is in use (on SPV E100 anyway)

It's the GPRS symbol. Tells you the service is available, it's normal and a good thing. When you're actually online with the phone you'll get a smaller G in the signal indicator.

The next one to confuse you will be the Bluetooth symbol. Looks like a crab on its side or something... :? :wink:

Can you just remind me please - does the G only come up with GPRS enabled sims ? Long tie since I did that for the E100. Lost my phone so now starting all over again with E200.

Yeah, you may remember you have to phone up Orange Customer Services for them to enable GPRS. Your SIM should be capable, they just need to switch it on I think.

thanks, this phone is great; the quality of divx is amazing. the sound of the mp3's are great as well. dont know why i didnt get it earlier (well i do really, it was a bit pricey for me).

Thanks. Will wait until Friday and take phone and both sims upto Orange shop and get them to make sure GPRS is enabled on them.
