Guest IFA Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Hi All, just been reading and a great site, well done! This is my 1st phone with more than the ability to make calls & send texts, so i'm a tad lost right now having received the phone this morning. A friend told me he put a movie on an SD card and could wacth them, so thats one think I would like a it of guidance on, also I want to move some music across from windows media player on my pc to the phone, any hints on that would be much appreicated. Finally, the book tells me what the red light & green light both mean, but I have a blue flashing light in between the green flashes? Blue does not normally mean danger so I hope its something normal!! Thanks in advance guys
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Welcome to the forum :) No need to feel lost as you'll get all the help you need here. The blue light signifies that Bluetooth is switched on. I'd recommend you have a look at the FAQs section, particularly 'First 48 Hours with a Smartphone' and the Articles section has an excellent guide to converting and watching movies on your phone.
Guest lighthouse82 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 goes to show you just how crap the instruction booklet is that comes with these phones. they must have realised that nobody reads them anyway, so didn't bother...
Guest IFA Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Thanks for that, I now spent all day looking for software to convert a normal CD track to a WAV file for a ring tone, I downloaded CdEX which has confused me, very un user friendly! Can anyone let me know of the best software to use and give me a walkthrough? :?:
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 You need dbPowerAmp here. You won't need a walk through, it's really easy to use. Then use Windows Sound Recorder to trim the bit you want to use and save in PCM format.
Guest maxmix Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 I never opened my User guide either... much better info on here... BTW Speakerphone is activated by holding the green button down during a call :) and keylock comes into use by holding the red button down for a few secs.... Just a couple of quickies :( maxmix
Guest IFA Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Sorry gfor being such a novice, I have installed dBpower and have ripped the track I want from the CD into WAVE format, when it finished it just went back to the normal screen listing the CD content. Now what do I do? (sorry again!!(
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Okay, now you need to find the wave file. From memory I think it might be saved in c:Windows Programs (dbPowerAmp folder probably called by the developer name - it'll be easy to find) Then cut & paste it to another folder that's easier to find. You can specify in dbPowerAmp where you want to save the output. Now go to the Programs menu, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. Browse for and open the wave file. Play it and use the edit function to trim the bit you want to use - 30 seconds is all you're going to hear before the ansaphone cuts in. Pause the track at your start point and delete all before. Play and pause 30ish seconds later and delete all after. Now File, Save as...and click the Change button. You need to save as PCM format, the rest you can experiment with for volume & quality, but I usually use 16000khz, 16bit mono. You've saved the new wave as a new file (it's trial and error here so keep the original wave) and can now transfer to the phone. Enjoy! :)
Guest maxmix Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 @Stu... Quick Q for you.... may help out IFA at a later date also :) I installed 'theme changer' Everytime I switch the C500 off and on the theme needs to be set again... I read somewhere on here how to fix this... But my 'Search' won't work correctly Thanks maxmix
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Maxmix, is it in here ? Theme Changer v4 or here ? Theme Changer v1 Sorry, but haven't used it myself. :)

Guest IFA Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I am just writing to say a huge thanks to everyone who has helped me out getting MP3's onto my phone and then converting and cutting into WAV files and putting on as a ring tone, I have achieved something that I never thought was within my capabilities, a massive thanks to you all. Right next its DVDs onto the phone, then I supose I should sync it up to my email, maybe take some photos, oh the world of C500 is so rosey! But dont fret, I will be back at some point regarding DVDs onto the phone.
