Guest m4rcus Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Hi, I know there was a battery pack you could buy for the e200, I was woundering if there is one out there for the c500 (I have done a search...) Could someone work out how much life a 9V battery (with suitable componets) would offer...? I plan on making such a device for myself if there are none available... Also I'd like to extend the life of my Fortuna GPS, I guess this is also possible??? Cheers, Marc
Guest Will Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 i've used a 4x AA battery charger on the e200, need to get some electrical guru to work out the correct settings and gubbins for the c500 :) anyone volunteering? Will
Guest PayableOnDeath Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 what about the usb cable pin outs which are power? once you know them just can just connect the power to them pins with a choped up USB cable Right :?:
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Check out Skysurfer's link on this thread they have a battery powered phone 'extender' Pick out Orange, then C500 and go towards the bottom of the page
Guest olly_k Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Say a 9v battery delivered 1Ah (1000mA Hours) and the C500 draws 0.1A (100mA) then 1000100 equals 10 Hrs. However the current drawn by the c500 is going to vary depending on the state of the battery, and use of the phone... Also don't forget you will need to drop the voltage to 5V, which if using a fixed regulator is going to waste energy (heat) so it would be pretty hard to come up with a definate figure really. Oh, and I made up the figures above so don't take things at face value! Also a good reason for using single cells (four AAA batts?) is they have a higher capacity than a 9v battery, no regulator required (couple diodes maybe?) which maybe a fair trade-off with size? All bits required are readily available from Maplins should you want to try it :) Hope I helped?!?!
Guest m4rcus Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 How's about using an old Nokia phone battery and plugging it into the USB port as if it was charging? The only problem I can see is that the battery is 3.7V output and the USB is normally 5V input isnt it? Cheers...
