Is there a peice of software that allows me to change the order in which items appear in my start menu? For example I want smart explorer to appear as number one but at the moment it's number 9...

Hi, see Smartione or JeyoPersonalizer or you can do this by registry modication using PHM Registry Editor. Do a search to find these software.

I am having problems with this!

Jeyo only re-orders the first 7 items and I want to re-order all of them.

I tried using Smartione and that appeared to work, excpet that the start menu items are not actually appearing in the order I chose in Smartione.

So, downloaded PHM registry Editor, went to the required key and all the start menu items ARE listed in the order I put them in using Smartione, but they still won't display in that order!!

Any offers?

The Reg Path is:

HKCU-Software-Microsoft-Shell-StartMenu then Values-Order-Value Data.

I had my StartMenu customized and my Multi-String Value Data are as follows:

----------

Backlight <-- folder

Fonts <-- folder

Reg Edit.lnk

Notepad.lnk

Explorer.lnk

Task Manager.lnk

Internet Explorer.lnk

Betaplayer.lnk

<-- space

<-- cursor here

----------

If you will notice, the first 2 are folders while the remaining 6 entries are shortcuts (.LNKs).

The shortcut names are case-sensitive. What appears in your StartMenu folder should be the same names you will have to input in the Value Data.

There should be a space then the cursor, else it will go back to the alphabetical arrangement.
