Why the backlight keeps turning itself on?

I have a newly unlocked SMT 5600 working fine in US T-Mobile.

The screen light keeps turning itself on every few minutes. I have not scheduled automatic e-mail check. Does anybody know what program or setting can make the light turn on? Has anybody experienced anything like this?

I have noticed that the backlight will come on a few seconds prior to an SMS or call notification, and that the screen light will come on as Windows Media Player changes files. Only time I have noticed it doing itself.

ive noticed it does do this occasionly aswell, it does it a few seconds before a call or txt but sometimes just does it anyway, ive always presumed it lost signal, then found it again causing the backlight to come on.

Also when topping up the battery charge will do the same thing (if it's connected to the PC or the charger of course)

I am using the OTA notification of new mail and Exchange Active Sync. Every time Exchange sends an OTA notificaiton the back light turns on.
