Guest hamstar50 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Hi guys, I got a replacement C500 from Orange. The website for the OTA unlock doesn't seem to be functioning properly. How else can I unlock it? Is there another way? Cheers folks
Guest Dark Horse Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 I have exactly the same problem. Got the C500 replaced and the new model won't decert. I've read all the threads here, connected to the Internet via GPRS fine, have left it connected whilst going to the site to unlock, downloaded the Orange registration program rubbish that does nothing except proceed to hang the phone and even connected to the Internet using a different Orange SIM all to no avail. The mobile number has been entered correctly with +44 and I've tried using 0 as well. Just how long does it take for a handset to register in the Orange database once you've connected to the Internet via GPRS? Is it simply not possible to decert a replacement handset? I noticed that when my new handset was being registered by the Orange muppet at the Orange shop, the IMEI he gave was from the outside of the box that was two digits too short. Would this be causing the problem, even though I entered the correct 17 digit IMEI by entering *#06#* on the keypad? Have sent a mail to developers at Orange but am not optimistic about receiving a reply this side of 2005 :x Any other help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Guest Dark Horse Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 Ok, I replaced my C500 for a third time and got a new number. Went to the web site and it decerted just fine so I wonder if its a problem with upgrades and moving numbers to new handsets. Regards, Dark Horse
Guest Confucious Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 It ussually works but some people have to try a few times. Mine worked fine first time with a number ported in so I don't believe that's the problem. If you still can't get it to unlock try the file in this thread http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...er=asc&start=15 - I've not used it myself but assu,me it works.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 If that is just the renamed No Warez application (which is ilegal) it will not work on updated C500 phones as it has been revoked :) Unlock it the proper way and any problems, you can email the Delvelopment team and they will send you the unlock application designed to work on just your phone.
Guest Confucious Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Ash - being new to this lark i've not even heard of No Warez. The thread has some code which has been written and is in the thread which, so it is said, unlocks (app lock) the phone. Not sure how it can be illegal but if it is maybe you ought to delete it. Thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 1, I did not "just delete it" as I was running late for work and do not want to delete a file if it is not the one I am thinking of. It still may be a derivative of though and will need looking at. For your information No Warez was an application Orange use internally to test their smartphones, it removes all security locks and in doing so is not as safe as the standard application unlocking process. The reason it is an illegal application is that it was stolenleaked from Orange and was never authorized to be released to the public. The first batch of C500 could still use this application but new units since the upgrade has had the certificate revoked so it will no longer work. The same thing was done for the E200 so it was strange how Orange missed revoking it from day one.
