Guest suzbara Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 HELP!!! My CEO just got a new MPX220 and the keypad locks after 5 minutes, and it drives him crazy. We have tried everything to turn that off, but can't find the right menu. When I called Motorola, they said we had to do a hard reset. Can anyone confirm this before I actually try it? THANKS for your help. Suzie
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 If it's the same as the C500, go to Settings, Security, Enable Phone Lock and see what's in there.
Guest suzbara Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 We looked in there, and that seems like it is for the phone lock, but the keypad lock seems different. Anyway - there was no disable option. I don't have a phone like it in front of me, so I can't walk him through it (he is in FL)... so it is hard for me to tell you exactly what we have tried. Thanks.
Guest thongaxp Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 my phone doesn't do that on its own. the only way i can get the keys to lock is if i hold down the end key for 2 seconds. tell him to stop holding down the end call key. =) And i went thru the menus and did not see an option for that.
Guest AlbertoM Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 Just a wild guess is that he is not ending a call by closing the phone, but pressing and holding the end key. And holding. This is the phone lock. Then to unlock, the screen will guide you, but it is the left soft key (under unlock) then the star *.
Guest chanceu Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 When you press "Unlock", does it prompt you to press the '#' key or does it prompt you to enter a password? If it prompts you for a password , it is device locked. To disable that, go to Start->Settings->Security->Disable Phone Lock and enter the password. If under the security settings, the item is "Enable Phone Lock", automatic device lock is disabled and should not lock the phone. If it prompts you to press the '#' key, it is key locked. The only way to key lock the phone is to press and hold the end button or press the power button and select "Key Lock", but should not happend automatically. As mentioned earlier, calls may be ended by pressing and holding the end button, which would explain it. If automatic device lock is not enabled or the keys are not being locked manually and the phone is still locking, take it back and get another one.
Guest JLang Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 I was trained by a Nokia candybar to hold down End. Of course keylock is USELESS on a flip phone, and worse, I could swear I've had the phone lock ONLY, not ending the call... Is there any way to disable keyguard / keylock?
Guest JLang Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Is there any way to disable keyguard / keylock? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's no regedit or util to disable the keypad's locking when I accidentaly hold down end??
Guest hunmin Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Actually I did prefer automatic keypad lock after the phone idle for few minutes. I am rather use to it!
Guest JLang Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Actually I did prefer automatic keypad lock after the phone idle for few minutes. I am rather use to it! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What use is it on a flip phone?
Guest hunmin Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 (edited) What use is it on a flip phone? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's why I didn't blame Motorola, but since there is a keypad lock on the phone, they should have put an option for users to pick between auto and manual. It is a smartphone and it suppose to be smart lol Edited February 18, 2005 by hunmin
