Guest rayday Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 hI everyone, Got my C500 on PAYG today :) Been reading forum for a couple of days now trying to work out how to get my Dvds onto the phone. I dont want to unlock it just yet and it seems the best programmes are for unlocked phones! Im not very good with phones so could someone give me step by step guide please(with all the links) Got to show all the Nokia boys at work the way to go!
Guest martin Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Welcome rayday There is movie guide in the articles section HERE for using TMPGEnc. I use PocketDivXEncoder to code directly to DivX - see HERE BTW Betaplayer is great for shutting up nokia owners - usually works a treat
Guest rayday Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Thanks Martin. Will try the links. Don't go leaving the country , might have to get back to you.
Guest xerxes Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Can anyone answer this? I have some movie clips on my PC (some .AVIs, some .MPEGs - mostly encoded as DIVX or XVID I believe). Can I not just copy them onto my miniSD and play them on my C500? The ones I have tried have either not played at all or played sound only. I have tried playing them in Windows Media and in Betaplayer.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 You would still need to encode them to the correct size etc for them to work. The guides in the FAQ and Articles sections will help you :)
Guest ReSpawn Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 I have a further question: - I am perfectly happy with ripping/encoding video/sound into different formats. I just want to know what the C500 can cope with. 220x 176(?) pix, 25fps? Pal/ntsc? MP3 stereo? If i use Betaplayer i have to decert, right? I use premiere pro for my encoding (I love having hardware matrox encoding....takes no time at all!!!) so I dont need this "choose audio quality 1 stuff", Id like sample rates, bit depths etc. Thanks very much!!!! :( ps just got my baby - she is luly! 1st thing i did was buy WWP....Its a dream come true!!! hehe :)

I usually code DivX files at 200x176 (25fps) and the audio at 96kps. The C500 has no problems decoding the files even with very high video quality :) You don't need to Application unlock to use Betaplayer but the the C500 wil give you a warning about any unsigned apps when they are first run. Just click OK and continue.
