Guest bronksy Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 I am trialling the internet edition od Duality on my C500 on Orange. I am using an IMAP 4 mailbox with the Duality client. I have installed the certification and have the inbox.. wonder if anyone has also been playing with it? I can't seem to find any user guides for the product. I have installed the application on my device and it seems to be working fine.. But I have some questions. Do I NEED to set the delivery options? I notice that I can set it for 15 mins fo more. Do I need to set anything here? I understand the point of Duality is that I will get a mail as soon as one is sent to me. Is this correct? Why don't I just use the send and receive on the smartphone regular inbox instead of duality? Bizarrely though it seems to be within about 10 seconds that i get mail, with the delivery options set to off. I dont understand! The set up for the email filters does not seem to allow me not to specify a date period. It is misleading. If I set this to 2 months, does that mean it will download everything in my inbox unless it is OVER 2 months old? On my phone it seems I can set it for a minimum of 10kb and how ever many days I want. At the moment it seems to be letting me set it to 500 days on my handset. It seems that some emails come through and some don’t. If I check my inbox online I see emails that were not send to my handset. How can I ensure that every email reaches me? How mych data does Duality send and receive over the day, excluding email data.. Just the Duality talking to the server? Regards Rick
Guest jfran Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 have been using it for a while and cant complain. A common misconception about instant internet mail is we all want it right now, however without integration of the client into you server mails will only be delivered over a set interval. Having said that, with the client set to 15mins in the always on mode, i tend to get mails within 5 mins of being sent, and only on a daily basis data transmitted to query the server varies but its a few kbs . All your mail should be delivered however it could be something with the filters that is causing your missed mail problem. Regarding the mailbox time limit, it just indicates how many days mail is stored in the duality inbox before it is emptied. The commercial product that is integrated with exchange is quite good, however only used it on my 6600. hope that helps rgds jim Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest bronksy Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Well i'm still confused. should i set any delivery options or turn them all off? i see some mails sitting in my inbox but they don't seem to be pushed to my phone. i have no delivery options set up and the only filters is to download 1k per message and for 2 months in terms of mails sitting on their server. i don't get why some get to me in 5 seconds and some never get to me at all. if i had delivery options set would this help? so also whats the big deal with using this and not just setting the phone to send and receive every 15 minutes. Guest jfran Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 wow 6 or more posts from your phone ;( anyway, it will only push email on the server from the time that the client was/is installed or the selection of up to 7 days if memory ervers me. Test it without filters first then you can add filters at a later point. In the settings options of the client on the handset, disregards delivery optinos for now, as by default its set to 15mins durings peak intervals, howver keep the connection always on as well as keep alive on. Once you have done this see if you are still having undelivered mails. The advantage of smartner over setting the native client to check every 15 mins is that all data is compressed hence reducing the connection gprs charges, and as bytes of data is sent to your servers from the smartner servers every few minutes to your mail servers, email delivery time is improved. If you are still having problems email [email protected] for more assistance rgds jim

Guest stephen.gazard Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Does anyone now how to get a cost effective enterprise version of duality or some similar PUSH mail and PIM? I am running the demo of the Professional version but it only PUSHes email not PIM.
Guest mattyduk Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I'm trialing Smartnet duality Enterprise, and its setup on our servers and an SPV500. The problem is that when the client software connects, and displays a notification that there is new mail, when I select to view it, it not only just displays the list of accounts, but when I go into the outlook email account, it doesn't display any new mail, yet the counter on the orange home screen shows there are some new messages. When using active sync to sync email, it works fine.
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 @mattyduk Sounds like you haven't installed the certificate thingy Once that's installed you get a "Duality" mailbox and your pushed emails are in there

Thanks! @mattyduk Sounds like you haven't installed the certificate thingy Once that's installed you get a "Duality" mailbox and your pushed emails are in there <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
