Just got my C500 and neddless to say I am loving it. I have some java games for a nokia 7 6 something something (it's the wifes), I thought it would be a good idea to get them on my SPV. Alas they work not. I used File Explorer to find my jar and then it installed through java, the games appear in the installed application list but will not run.

Have I done something wrong or is it a case of some games will work and some wont? I do realise that these have been developed for a Nokia phone.

Can anyone out there suggest any good java games for the C500?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Most j2me midlet games meant for Nokia, won't work on ANYTHING else besides Nokia. Actually, some of the Nokia midlet games will only work on certain Nokia models!!

The reason is that Nokia has their own graphics api, sound api etc... quite frustrating for all except for Nokia... they're known to go their own ways, caring little og nothing at all, for the troubles other trademarks and developers may encounter. Market strategy - when you're big enough, you write you own standards... just look at Microsoft...

I have a lot of j2me java games that works fine for my SPV C500. Find those midlets meant for Sony Ericsson og Siemens mobiles, then you're as good as home free... :)

BUT - hey, why play the shitty looking java j2me midlets, when you can play NICE games made for SPV's?

In this forum, try to search for:

- DopeWars (buy and sell all kinds of drugs in the big cities of USA)

- KevTris (tetris clone, the best version for SPV C500: http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail....ssociateid=281)

- LiNuggs XMas Edition (extremely fun to play - http://games.elements.nl/linuggzxmas/downloads.php )

- Rebound (also very funny - a pinball like game with a twist. You're a little bulky guy, running around in a maze, and you can shoot your ball against monsters. The ball will bounce off the walls and obstacles like in a pinball game... extremely nice graphics! http://www.airfagev.com/downloads1.asp?id=30 )

- UFO Invaders (free game, shoot the aliens - an advanced version of the old Invaders game... http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=539 )

----- and there's many more - just look around :(

Ok, if you insist that j2me midlets are your taste, well here goes: :(

- www.midlet.org (a lot of free midlet applications and games)

- http://www.xtel.com.ua/java_e.php?series=40 (also a lot of free j2me java midlet games)
