Hi,

Since a few days I have the Orange SPV c500.

I visited a few sites and red a few specs. of the c500. In some specs was stated that the c500 has a FM-radio option.

When I bought the phone they told me it didn't ad fm-radio. Is it possible that whit the right software you can enable the FM-radio?

Thanks.

Sorry for the poor English

No. there is no hardware in the c500 to allow it to be used as a radio.

When the phone was first announced there was some confusion with the translation of the specification which seemed to indicate the phone did have an internal radio.

The term is used for the Radio stack which is the part of the phone that communicates with the transmitter and enables you to make calls.

The old phones used to have radio onoff this is where people made the mistake about it having an fm radio. This was later changed to aeroplane mode and turning this off enables you to use the phone without having

the phone features enabled.

You can only use it as a web radio... but that will cost you a lot of money for GPRS!

Example:

Visit http://www.dr.dk/netradio/p3-wmp-32.asx (32kbps quality) - notice that Windows Media Player starts, and that it will begin playing FM radio over the internet! Well, the radiostation is in danish, but is proves that it is indeed possible to listen to radio using your SPV. This is the same station that can be found OTA in Denmark (P3).

As said ealier, it's quite expensive though. I don't know any links to any english radio channels. But I'll bet that this trick can be done in almost all countries, as I know of 8 danish radio stations working this way...

All credit for this notion must go to MoRFLeZ who posted these informations on a danish forum. :)
