Guest sergeb Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Was anyone successful figuring out how (if that's possible at all) to turn off System attribute on a file in Storage and/or how to replace/delete one? Oh, and do you know if it's feasible to replace a file in Windows or copy one from Windows?
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 The phone re-writes the Windows folder on reboot, so there's not much point trying to modify or delete any of these files.
Guest benjymous Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Oh, and do you know if it's feasible to replace a file in Windows or copy one from Windows? Yes, you can - but as Stu said it'll get lost every time your phone is rebooted
Guest DaLass Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Sorry to kick this old topic, but i have a problem with systemfiles attribute. I flashed my Dutch SPV-C500 with the modified English update, and everything works OK, but i want to change some items in the startmenu. I want to make some folders to organize, and move shortcuts to that folders. (Example... WMplayer.lnk in a folder "Multimedia".) When i try to move these files from the startmenu I get the following error: "Cannot Move WMPlayer : Access is denied. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not read-only and that you have permission to copy this filetype" All the standard shortcuts generate this error, and have a System attribute. All other installed software shortcuts can be moved without a problem (For example: Betaplayer). So, it is possible to remove the System attribute, and if so, how can I do it, because I didn't get it to work for now..
Guest Confused Stu Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 I thought the only way to move the "standard" start menu items was through registry hacking - but recenetly another post on here somewhere said it could be done using the phone's standard file manager. Seeing as I've always used SmartExplorer, and this didn't work, I wanted to prove the post wrong, tried the phones (awful) standard file manager.... and it worked! In short, just use the phone's file manager (in accessories) and you can hack about the Start Menu (in Storage, Windows, Start Menu) as much as you want! :D
Guest yoos Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 On my Typhoon I was able to mess around with any files via Explorer that were previously not possible to move/delete after I installed the SDA unlocker as described here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=116301&hl=
Guest DaLass Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I already solved my problem thanx to Orange. With the utility they send me, my phone is "De-Certified" and I am now able to move all shortcuts. Tnx Anyway.
