How do I record an on-going conversation on my smartphone?

I'm using an mpx200 with wm2003 by the way.

I have always thought this to be a basic feature on mobile phones?

Are there 3rd party apps that lets me do just this?

It is not a basic feature and not many phones have this feature.

There has always been the questionable legal side of recording conversations without permission etc depending on your locality.

I do not know of an application that can do this offhand.

So there are none? :)

I need it especially when I'm driving or walking

from one place to another. Maybe I'm just spoilt by

my previous mobilephones which all had it...

I have not tested this recently but I vaguely remember it being discussed

a long time ago without success as the mic cannot pick up sounds from the speaker.

Thing is though if it could pick up sounds from the speaker you would make an interesting feedback loop.

Just ask the MPX200 owners who close the flip to end a call :)

feedback loop only happens if the mix is recording from the earpiece speakers. As a general rule of design, mobilephones which allows conversation recording do not do that. Instead, the internal wiring carries the signals in digital to be recorded. No analog waveforms involved.

Sigh. So there is no way at all, right?

Unfortunately not, it's one thing that has been asked for in the phone since the SPV was released.

I know this was a 'secret feature' of the T68. I only learnt of this after having the phone flashed, only to find this feature had been removed altogether.

I suspect this is a legal grey area?

LOL maybe mobile operators (no companies mentioned  ) don't want customers recording CS conversations especially when cso's don't follow the rules properly :)

Yep, but it's always fun when you ring Complaints and start off by saying "I think I have to tell you for legal reasons that I'm recording this conversation" even if you're not. Tends to get them to think up _slightly_ more convincing excuses.

Nah, my tmo branded T610 could record phone conversations. I assumed it had something to do with MS being a US company and US law requiring some kind of indicator that a call is being recorded. Regardless, the answer is the same as the 50000 TV remote control questions...if it's really that important, get another kind of phone that does what you want.
