I have the i-mate (sp3) and it came with WM9. Is it possible to get an upgrade to WM10 before i-mate releases it? Also, if not, are there any C500 or 5600 ROMs I could use to flash my phone so it has WM10? Thanks so much!

I have to say I was extremely irritated at Windows Media Player 9, and doubly irritated at Orange who like i-mate haven't come out with a ROM upgrade for WMP10...

My number one irritation is the way WMP9 doesn't allow you to move around within a file (great fun if you have a 30 minute video file and want to start watching it half way through).

So I installed Betaplayer (free), and found it solves most of the problems with Windows Media Player 9. Plus, it has greater compatibility with file formats, which allows me use Nero Recode to convert my DVDs in to MPEG4 files (Nero digital media or whatever Nero calls them) and play them on the phone. I found an hour of video was perfectly watchable when encoded down to 100Mb and the encoding process is much more straight forward than Windows Media. You can fit loads of stuff on a 512Mb memory card :)

OK, so WMP10 will have all this music library stuff and playlists, which is going to make it nice for playing back music. But at least Betaplayer might make a good stop gap solution (or even an improvement) for video.

Pls remember to put a question mark at the end of your subject title as it could be misleading to others.
