Guest ReSpawn Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Hi All, Just got my C500 and I love it. I've decert'ed it and installed b3ta player and encoded some movies for it! It looks great. My only gripe is with the way windows interfaces with it. My last phone was an nGage (don't laugh!!) and when I plugged it in via usb it was detected as a USB Mass Storage device. Great! NIce and easy. BUT When i connect the C500, you can only access it via the "Mobile device/My Smartphone". This in itself is not the problem. The problem is that with this method you cannot right-click/properties to find the size of something (eg space left on Storage Card) and you cannot directly open a file from here. THIS SUCKS!!!!!! Why cant it work like any other explorer window :) Any ways to get round this? Cheers
Guest squall Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 best solution is to get a sd card reader with mini sd card adaptor, you would find this would increase the speed of the transfers. The downside of this is you have to remove the card from the phone.
Guest ReSpawn Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 But what is the advantage of having this system? Why cant it work just like another folder in explorer!!one!?!?!?! I dont really fancy turning my phone off and dismantelling it every time I want to see how much space there is on my sd card!! Cheers tho.....Its definately an option!
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 The phone's inbuilt Task Manager will tell you how much of the storage card is free.
Guest ReSpawn Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Thanks Stu!! Didnt realise that!
Guest squall Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 card readers are very good for copying files to the storage card.
Guest nedge2k Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 My only gripe is with the way windows interfaces with it. My last phone was an nGage (don't laugh!!) and when I plugged it in via usb it was detected as a USB Mass Storage device. Great! NIce and easy. I agree. The Neonode N1 has this feature...why cant the C500. I didnt mind having to use my card reader when i used my E200...but having to pull the battery every five minutes is a pain. Unfortunately though, this sounds like the kind of problem that could only be cured with a bit of low level hacking to stop the C500 telling the PC its a "Smartphone USB Sync" and instead tell it that its "USB Mass Storage" and the obviously you'd need a way to switch between them or you'd never be able to activesync again. Oh well...here's hoping....
