Guest ChemNerd Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I have people's birthday in their contact info if possible. This way it shows up in my calender and I remember to at least call them or something. For some reason after using my phone and syncing with my smartphone (SMT5600) I now have double entries for my birthdays but for some odd reason the phone has decided that the birthday starts at 1am on the day and goes until 1am the next day. So my calender has these two day birthday events. I'm first off VERY curious as to how this happened - Outlook has always had the birthdays be all day events. I also am curious as to why the phone decided to make the birthday "event" instead of just using the existing ones. I personally am confused. Secondly - how can I fix this? I know I could go in and delete all the extra birthdays (easy to find) but that is both a pain and doesn't fix it - it only bypasses the issue and it will also be something I have to do any time I add a new birthday. I could just live with it yes - but I'd rather not. Thanks in advance for any help. Anyone else had this problem?
Guest Clayts Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I do exactly the same as you in my outlook and it doesnt't sync over two days. Is Sounds like your time is in front of your calendar time ie: your phone is on BST but your calendar in outlook in on GMT (or vice versa). Maybe check that? otherwise hard reset and start from scratch to try and narrow down the problem...
Guest hotphil Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I've had this problem with various devices syncing on various PC's with various Exchange servers using various syncing software. I think it's just something you gotta live with. I gave up removing duplicates after a while as they soon reappeared on the next sync!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Check your time settings on your PC. Make sure you have Daylight Savings Time Correctly checked as well. I had the same problem when syncing to two PCs. My work PC was new and didnt have DST checked.
Guest ChemNerd Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 After checking apparently my laptop was the culprit in this matter. Somehow my laptop was set in the wrong timezone (one hour behind mine). I never told it to sync so I don't know why it did it that way. It was a pain to fix though - had to re-add people's birthdays in the contacts and re-add in holidays after I deleted everything from my laptop, phone and desktop. I finally got it resolved although oddly enough about two of the birthdays made doubles - but none of the others. Oh well - Stupid me - I'd forgotten I'd plugged it into my laptop to charge some. Thanks to everyone.
