Guest Gears Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Yes, 'tis me. I don't have a solution to this, so I'm hoping you guys will have an idea. My brother has the SPV E200 and has found that when it's in his pocket, with the keylock on, he has been inadvertantly calling the emergency services (999). He's now resorted to putting a passcode on the phone in an attempt to stop this from happening, but it still seems to be bashing the "9" key and making these emergency calls. Is there a way to disable this feature, as good as it is, on the E200 ? Looking at his call history, this has happened three times in as many weeks and one call was over a minute long.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Just checked this is the same on the C500 as well :? Nice idea but worrying as you can be fined for "hoax calls" for use of a better word. EDIT I completely forgot about this
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Here's your solution Leigh :) http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=89947 P
Guest Gears Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Aha .. nice. Ta mate.. there's me not using bloody "Search forum" :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Ahh but look at your post count you are still a "newbie" as such :)
Guest Disco^ Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Haha, this happened with me too. called 112 several times :) with my SPV1
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I thought you had to confirm with one of the softkeys before it actually dialled out.
Guest Gears Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Yeah, you do. You have to hit the "call" key. However the E200's "call" key sticks out and it's quite easy to do.
Guest mavisdavis Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Tell him to put it in his other pocket so it dials 777 :)
Guest mark.lucas Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Whilst it is annoying (I've never managed it and I 've got every variant of the SPV) this function is there for a reason - remove at your (possible) peril.
