Guest namiran Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 Is it true that my guarantee at i-mate stops when installing a new ROM or even trying to do so, when the ROM is supplied by i-mate them selfs? this is my situation: I live in sweden and so i want swedish t9 for my i-mate sp3 ordered from expansys. Now i-mate has supplied a new ROM on there web wich has nordic languages support. I downloaded this new ROM but i couldnt install it, just get an error 294... So i mailed i-mate and asked them what to do since i there live support was offline. This morning i recieved an email saying: "Regarding your query, please do know that, we do not guarantee the device after installing other ROM version on your device." I havent even installed the new ROM supplied by themselfes and they have already stoped supporting my device???
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 Normally warranties are void if you install a ROM from another network. If you have an I-Mate then you are allowed to use authorised public released ROMs from I-Mate. People have still upgraded to other Roms before and still claimed on warranties but it's down to who checks the phone if it is returned.
Guest namiran Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 but i Have an i-mate SP3 and the update i want to install is supplied from i-mate...so my warrantie shouldnt expire right??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 You should be fine as it is an official update wich you can only get from their site if your IMEI is correct.
Guest underpaid Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 I am in a similar situation, I think there are two possibilities: 1. You could try to get the file T9swedishldb.dll and trick the phone to use Swedish T9 and english menus. 2. Get the list of swedish words and put them into mst9.udb by using this: msT9ed I'm looking for the norwegian versions for the above, but have not been sucessful yet........
Guest namiran Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 awarner, i am aware of this, but as i said, i own a i-mate sp3 and i am aldready member there, thats why i now they even have a update :( but thanx for the info, im gonna start a war with i-mate over this :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 I would as you are just upgrading to their own ROM, that would be the same as Orange saying we have an update for you but you can not use it. There would be a riot :)
