Guest stiscooby Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Hi, I'm new to this forum and have also just got my SPV C500. I have copied some .wav files onto it, from my PC, but seem to have an odd problem with one. I have set one as a ring tone which works fine but when setting another one for a txt message alert it doesn't play it correctly, it just plays one single bleep even though that tone is selected? However if I play the same file on my PC it plays fine.............anyone got any ideas? Thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Welcome to the site :) A single beep means the file is not the correct format or encoded correctly. You can play with different ie mono at about 32hz and in 8 bit
Guest stiscooby Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Oh ok thanks. So how do I go about making those changes then, is that something I can change on the phone?
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Copy the faulty wav back to your PC then open it with Sound Recorder. You can find this in Programs, Accessories, Entertainment. Hit File, Save As.. and then hit the Change button next to Format. Choose PCM and the rest is optional and can be experimented with for best volume / quality. I seem to have used PCM 22050khz 8bit mono the last time. :)
Guest rickt Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 I use a program called Cool Edit for altering .wav files .ie no need to use a stereo sound for a mobile, just convert it to mono to save space, fade a sound in or out etc. Get a hold of a early version like Cool Edit 96, it works on all OS including XP and does'nt take up much space and it will do the job.
Guest squall Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 cooledit was bought out by adobe (are they taking over the world) so you will be luck to get it now! you could try geta demo of adobe audition. from http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/mai....jsp#product=92 Its not worth buying just for making ringtones, but its free for 30 days
Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 At last my first post here and I can be useful!! :) There's a great little freeware app called Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) which is well suited for editing and modifying WAVs (and MP3s with a plug-in). You could try that if you want to do a lot of WAV editing. Best regards
