Travel Charger Noise

Hi everyone. This is my first post, but I've been browsing these forums for the last few weeks as I have been researching information about the mpx 220. I went ahead and bought the mpx 220, and I like it a lot, but one thing that has bothered me is that the travel charger makes a very low humming sound when my phone is charging. It's not something I can hear with the TV or radio on. But when there is nothing on, I can hear it at night while it's charging. Is this normal, or could there be a problem with my charger? It seems to charge the phone fine, but it's just annoying while I'm trying to sleep. Thanks.

You can hear a hum with most chargers, they have transformers in them. Depending on the design some chargers hum less...

Its nothing to worry about.

They really shouldn't be audible, particularly if new.

The hum is caused by movement, both translational and/or flexing, of the metal plates in the transformer core. If you can hear it, the plates are loose. Eventually they may crack the insulation on the fine wires in the windings. When that happens, your charger is history.

If it's a new charger, take it back for a replacement. If it's old, be prepared to replace it when you can least afford it (like at the beginning of a hectic business trip that takes you nowhere near a Cell phone store  )
