HELP: Your phone is running low on free storage space

Have a friend that filled up all the internal storage memory. Now the phone won't start anymore and after giving this error message it just restart.

The strangest thing is that I already tried Hard Reset (Powerup with SD and pressing camera button -> storage #8) and Upgrading the ROM by the Bootloader: it just keep giving that damn error!!

ActiveSync wont recognize the phone so I have no way to delete anything from the phone!!

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
