Guest rico12345 Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 As I did heare today in an Orange-Shop, in Q01-03 a Bluetooth Adapter will be available !
Guest dialanothernumb Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 anyone tried/ have a view on whether the toshiba b/tooth sd card might work. they produce one for their pda.. so it would have similar PPC software? shot in the dark I know, but...
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 the toshiba one should work hardware wise cos SD is a standard... the only issue is that it will undoubtedly need drivers which will probably need signing by Orange...
Guest dialanothernumb Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 arghh.. I keep forgetting. And of course Orange aren't going to certify competitive hardware... just their own Or am I being too cynical
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 i've not heard anything on a bluetooth adapter for spv? if they are available eventually on spv it would be nice to get an app with it to allow file/contact transfer as well as wireless handsfree and data connections...
Guest Will Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 At some point this month i'll be testing a palm and toshiba sd card, and report back my findings. Will (here's hoping)
Guest casper508 Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Ok it might be a dumb question but are these BT SD cards JUST for communication purposes or can they double-up as data storage devices too? Here's one to check out. http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=SD-T800P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 already asked that, noone answered though :D
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 My experience with similar cards etc in the past... (I haven't played with the SD Card varietys) is that the application cards don't include RAM. At most they put drivers/programs in ROM on the card with the transmitter. For the SPV this will be a bit of a pain since most of the stuff you might want to transmit via bluetooth is probably on an SD card which you have to take out to put the bluetooth card in... Still, it would allow you to use the wireless headsets and stuff. Only other option would be someone producing a proprietry bluetooth device that plugged onto the bottom of the phone like the camera does...
Guest neilg Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Apparently the standard SDIO bluetooth cards are going to be available with 64/128 Mb memory built in I read it this week but I cannot find the article or remember which manufacturer it was, ill keep searching and provide an update if I can find it. No dount whoever's it is wont have signed drivers......
Guest weswes19 Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 In the manual there is somethign about Bluetooth of a type and it would be a massive product of course their going to bring it out
Guest jhew Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 I work in retail and have access to an Orange rep who pops in every now and then. She did confirm that a dedicated bluetooth adaptor will be available 'soon' for the SPV. Details were a bit vague, but I did get the impression that it'll be with us within the next 4 or so months.... s'pose it depends how u define 'soon'. No details of how it would connect to the phone tho.
Guest Will Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Bad news. or maybe not. Just tried the tosh and palm bluetooth cards, they pop in, but do nothing. No real surprise there. However, I now have a palm card kicking around, if anyone is interested in testing anything on it.. gimme a pm. or point me in the correct direction for evc coding somthing that can talk to it. It does stick out the side of the phone.. but.. Will
Guest MISMan Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Putting in the card into the phone should do nothing. You have to have the driver on the device in order for it to identify / fire it up.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 what about just waiting for the bluetooth adapter that Orange are bringing out with the SPVx? Wyatt
