Guest Spanky Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 I know this question is waaaaaaay before it's time, but does anyone know if the amount of data transferred via GPRS is logged/noted anywhere on the phone? The reason I ask is that when the time comes for Orange to stop the unlimited GPRS ( ) I'd be keen to know that I'm not spending a fortune by browsing the Net every day..! Thanks very much!
Guest Spanky Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 Well, I've just found an application on the Orange page that will monitor GPRS traffic on the Smartphone. It's the "ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter SPE" and is being flogged for the pricely sum of 10 quid. If anyone knows of any other way of monitoring GPRS activity (preferably one that doesn't cost a tenner) I'd be pleased to know! Thanks
Guest p_dog Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 Download the trial version of the GPRS traffic counter, that's free and I think it's just a limted function program that won't expire, I'm probably wrong, but it never says it's only got a certain number of days left or anything.
Guest garf_d Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 I wouldn't worry about going over the 10MB 'fair use' limit on the promotional GPRS bundle. I spoke to the people on 156 earlier today about this and they said that they would not charge if you went over the limit but they reserved the right to move you onto a standard GPRS plan if you did - and only then after giving you notice first. What I found slightly more disturbing though is that they could not tell me how much of the GPRS bundle I had used up, apparently they are working on an automated system (like the one for your inclusive talk/CSD data minutes you get from option 1 on 150) but otherwise their best advice is to use the GPRS counter built into the phone - which we don't have! Don't you find that just a little bit worrying? Gareth
Guest Spanky Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Nice one! I didn't realise a trial version was available but I just downloaded it and installed it ok. Thanks. If anyone needs to know where to find the download for the trial version, go to the Downloads page from the phone's homepage, scroll down to the bottom and click 'Browse the full catalogue' and it's near the bottom of the page 'ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter SPE'. I was gonna put the URL for the download page on here but it's far too long...
Guest Spanky Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Don't you find that just a little bit worrying? Oh yes, not exactly surprising though...
