Guest jcinfo Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 For speed tour os , The solution ! Go to this directory IPSMWindowsStartUp You have this shortcut « Orange Support .ink » 1 Copy this shortcut to your desktop on your pc. 2 dellette the shortcut on the spv. 3 Now copy the shortcut to this directory IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories 4 Stop and reboot your SPV. 5 See the result, spv is speed :D Just one "probleme" at this ,if you whant to use your orrange update you cannot if this "Orange Support" is not run ,befor updat launch Orange Support an now you can update. Y am not responsable if you damage your spv.TRY at your risk !! Very Crismas..
Guest fcm Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 I took the risk! and oh my god it's amazing!! Totally speeds up your SPV in evry situation! :D)
Guest fcm Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 Would about the refreshrate is it any better ?
Guest kevlar Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 Some of us deleted all the shortcuts in the startup folder about 2 weeks ago. I didn't think the spv was noticeably faster though. I think it's just wishfull thinking. Kevlar
Guest prestij Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 I havent tryed it yet...but i cant find any orange support in my phone...i have those ones: Orange Orange Backup Orange update

Guest th0mz Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 Seems to run Orange Update just fine here, with the file deleted from the startup directory. That's weird, eh?
Guest dafadau Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 don't really seem to have made much differance
Guest th0mz Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 No, no difference at all. Only thing that helps on the speed, is the timeout-timer set low, and the keyboard sound off. Period! :?
Guest HelloDave Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Now that its been a while, can anyone say which startup items are safe to remove? I've deleted "orange support" (very suspicious re the current "random updates" like the removal of the voice dial option) and EzPushRegister (or whatever it's called) and my SPV seems to run ok, although ActiveSync crashed for the first time today.
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I deleted them all when this thread first came up and my phone's been 100% happy. Not too sure if it actually makes a speed difference though.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I still have the voice tags option under speed dial settings, although having never used it as it doesnt work i cant remember if i even ever had it in my contacts "menu" menu to begin with. Its not there now though.
Guest yoos Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi All! I am in the US and don't believe I need the Orange Support.Ink so I deleted it... Any ideas what the following other shortcuts are in my startup folder and if it's safe to remove them? My goal would be to free up resources and improve performance, so if some of these aren't used often and won't improve anything by deleting them then I'll leave them alone. - AddContact.Ink (guessing you need this if you want to add a new contact) - CloseAppman.Ink (not sure if this is standard on the phone or due to some other app I installed) - eloff.Ink (no idea) - EzPushRouterRegister.Ink (no idea) - MMSSvc.Ink (I don't use MMS, so could I delete this? If it doesn't help in system resources or performance then I'll leave it just in case I get an MMS somehow from someone??) - SmsClassZero.Ink (guessing you need this to send and/or receive SMS) - Usbcnect.Ink (guessing you need this for activesync...)
Guest axe Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 yeah , I'd also liek to know what those shortcuts are for before I delete them ....
Guest cyrilthefish Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Oh wow! I got a huge performance boost from moving the Orange Support.ink from the startup folder, the menus especially are much faster :) Another thing i noticed is from looking at sp task manager, the phone has 1.5mb more availble memory after a reboot (around 7.5mb instead of 6mb ish)
Guest zeta101 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 erm this thread was quite old, could someone confirm what is ok to delete and what isnt?
Guest yoos Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 just wondering if anyone knows the answer.... Thanks! Edit: Through more thorough searching :) I found this... http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...hrouterregister
