Anyone help with my attempt to give this overwise phone a decent ring tone!

I have a (sampled) WAV file which is 20 seconds long, but is 2.5 Mb in size. This seems to be too big for the SPV to handle as a ringtone.

I believe I am right in saying it must be a WAV file (not MP3).....

Is there any way to run the ringtone from the SD card?

Failing that, can anyone recommend a utility which will cut the WAV file down or allow me to re-record the sound in a more 'economical' format?

Cheers Folks,

Merry Xmas!

the ringtone needs to be wma + the size yo have is excesive -to cut it down even the humble windows standard recorder will do it for you(programs/accessories/entertainment on XP). Start by making it mono - 50% reduction then lower all down using file/save as/change -use PCM/8khz/8bit/mono -see what you think this will give a small resultant file with just about acceptable sound (how hifi do you wnat a ringtone ?)

See what you think

PS there are lots of other utilities to convert sounds for example mp3 sound cutter has a demothat allows a short excert of mp3 to be converted to a Wav for ringtone conversion usage or the exelent droopy eyes software Wav compressor (full freeware)

hope this helps

use cool edit ( there is a demo available ) to downgrade the wav file. Try 11 khz, 8 bit, mono, 88kbps. You should be able to get your wav down to about 100k ish. You can get the demo from www.cooledit.com
