Queries / bugs to be resolved asap

Hi there

I have just got my SPV a few days ago, and it was activated on monday evening. Since then the phone has crashed around a dozen times or so. This is quite a lot, even Windows 95 didn't crash that much when i got it. :evil: :cry:

Also, i have had various other problems:

1. Profiles - The phone is stuck on car, and on headset when the headset is plugged in. I was led to believe that by default the profile should be on normal, but wen i try to change the profile, the select item in the menu is not selectable.

Within the IPSM/Application Data/ folder their is a Profiles folder which i assume should contain xml files of each of the profiles, but it contains only that of the car and headset profiles.

Please let me know if i am jus missing some files which i can obtain from someone here, or will i have to return the phone back to the shop?

2. Speed... it has been very slow at times, espcially when browsing and calling

3. GPRS - Can someone please clarify if this is meant to be a permanent connection t the internet while still being able to recieve and make voice calls, as this is what i have always been led to believe. if this is the

case, then why is it that i can not recieve calls while using the GPRS functionality?

4. When i am not using the cradle, and jus the standard charger, doskware is activated and then the phone jus freezes. The only way to resolve this has been to take the battery out...which i would not like to do, as it is bound to mess up the OS.

5. I am for some reason missing the voice tag functioanlity for my contacts... this is highly useful when used in conjunction with a headset, and so would like to know what is wrong with my phone. i tried calling orange customer services and they said that someone in their technical dept will carry iut a diagnostic of the phone, but have no idea when this will happen, and if this will indeed resolve the issues is have.

Basically in the few days i have had the phone i have not been overly impressed by it.... i really hope that the SPV OS update will resolve alot of the current issues and present many more useful features.

I have several more issue as well, but i cant be bothered to mention them now.

Yeah, but that's the trouble with bleeding edge technology. It's not an excuse - just fact. Don't buy brand new technology unless you can deal with the faults. Wait until the 3rd or 4th version comes out, by which time most bugs should have been ironed out.

I've got Headset.prof.xml, Normal.prof.xml and Silent.prof.xml. I think these are only in here if you have changed the defaults setting s for these profiles. I'll list the contents of the Normal.prod.xml at the end so you can see if that fixes your problem, but to be honest it sounds more like a hardware issue - the phone probably thinks a car charger is plugged into it. Other people have had this issue and have had to hard reset/return to resolve it.

See other posts on how to speed this up. As a start turn off sounds and choose the Full Homescreen rather than Orange's default one.

You cannot use GPRS and Voice lines at the same time. When you are actually using GPRS (for downloading... etc) incoming calls are diverted to answerphone. This is most evident with when downloading Streaming radio/videos. When you are connected to GPRS, but not actually using the connection it drops the connection and you get the call coming through as normal. I'd call this a bug - it's supposed to be a phone first!

Not had this problem, so can't help with that. What's doskware?

Voice tags aren't implemented. You can still see some references to them in some parts of the software, so I guess they had them at some point.

Personally, I love it. It's got a lot of issues, but it does 10 times what any other phone on the market does. And for the size and price - I'm well impressed.
