Guest Scoobyroo Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Hi guys I have synced all my Outlook contacts to my SPV and now find that when ever I recieve a call the SPV will ID the caller on screen.... as you would expect. However, every time I recieve an SMS all that is displayed is the number. As I can't remeber hardly any of my contacts numbers, it impossible for me to find out who sent the text unless I make a note of the number and search for it on my SPV. Surley the SPV should be displaying the callers name taken from the contacts list match? Funnily enough, I have noticed that all texts come from +447976 xxxxxx and all my contacts are stored as the std number without the country code (i.e. 07976 xxxxxx). Could this be the problem? Having said that, even if I change my contacts number to incorporate the country code, the SMS is still not identified... anoying to say the least! Any ideas????
Guest zenabi Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Only new messages will recognise your contacts names after you've changed their numbers to fit he +44 format. Your old messages will still show the number and not the name.
Guest Scoobyroo Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Ahhh, ok... guess that makes sense. So with over 300 contacts in my phone, is there any easy was to add the +44 on to all numbers (a setting in outlook maybe?). My preference would be to alter the SPV not to require +44 if poss...
Guest Bazz Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 This has been discussed at length in other posts. Have a look around for other posts on this subject and a program to convert your numbers. Hopefully this will be sorted out in a software update fairly soon. Can't believe they didn't notice/think this was an issue before launch! Barry
Guest Scoobyroo Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 It has?.. oh sorry, I did look but couldn't find anything. I'll search again. Hmmmmm, SPV you are begining to cause me more problems than you're worth!
Guest Paul Proctor Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 hi - i've found this problem frustrating too. However, i converted some of my numbers to the international format and then found that my phone won't caller ID them when i receive a call!! it seems that the caller id only works with normal numbers, and the SMS with international style numbers!! is this unique to my SPV?!?! or is everyone suffering this? also, anybody got any idea when a 'service pack' or upgrade is going to be available? i keep trying the orange update function but it reports that my (very buggy) SPV is up to date!! cheers...
