windows media files

hey im loving my spv i got for xmas, ive got a 128mb card, ive bin happily dumping loads of mp3s onto. when i go onto wmp the program finds the mp3 files and away i go. however if i put an mpeg file on the card it doesn recognise it, it doesnt come up in the select area of windows media player, am i doing sumthing wrong?? (OBVIOUSLY!!)
